Hosting is a very critical (if not most critical) part of any website and one that cannot be taken lightly.
Within this SiteGround review, I want to show you what makes this my top recommendation when it comes to hosting.
Well, I’m sure the information I am about to provide in this post will have all the answers you are looking for.
So before you purchase SiteGround or any other hosting provider for that matter, let me give you the lowdown on what you can expect.
So let’s get on with this review as I’m sure your site needs some reliable hosting.
What is SiteGround?
SiteGround is a website hosting provider that does exactly that.
Founded in 2010, they have provided superb hosting to millions of website owners and that number continues to climb over time.
They have thousands of positive reviews on the net and they only continue to improve their service.
What Makes SiteGround Better?
There are several things that I look for in a hosting provider and SiteGround seemed to be the best fit for my personal needs.
Most companies have one thing or another but SG literally has all the boxes checked.
But what really makes them so great in my opinion?
Well, there are many reasons but one really sticks out from the rest.
SiteGround Does Nothing But Hosting
In most cases, doing too much at once will lead to a devalued service or product.
I’ve seen it too many times before.
A company starts off with one solid product and then ventures off into other things.
Adding other products to an existing product can hurt a business and that is why I think SiteGround is really that much better.
With a focus on just hosting, they can concentrate on one thing and one thing only, instead of providing several mediocre services.
You don’t see a pizza joint trying to sell burgers and you don’t see hardware stores trying to sell running shoes.
Not to say that they can’t make a good burger but it will take away from what they specialize in.
That’s how it works with a real business and that’s how it works within the online space.
With such a targeted approach to things, it allows for other aspects to thrive and will only lead to better websites.
If there is one reason why you would want to change hosting for your sites, it is probably going to be speed.
Google’s ranking algorithm puts a lot of emphasis on site speed and you really can’t compete with a slow website.
Sure you can use Google’s Site Speed test to see how fast your site really is but there’s nothing better than simply testing it for yourself.
If you feel your site is even a bit slow, SiteGround will help you in that department.
This very site is hosted with Siteground and you can test the speed for yourself.
Getting some quality hosting is one thing but getting the answers and solutions to your problems is another.
SiteGround’s support is top notch.
If you are transferring hosting providers, they will do it for you for free.
At least for the first transfer.
And if you have any questions about anything or your site encounters some issues, you can count on them to help you that same day.
Through a support ticket or a live chat, you can bet that your site will get the support it NEEDS.
Other hosting providers are getting better but Siteground’s support is still the best I’ve ever tried.
But How Often Will Your Site Go Down?
Nothing is ever perfect and your hosting provider isn’t either.
My sites have never gone down since I switched but it has only been a couple of months
However, SiteGround’s 8 month averages is not bad either as their servers are up 99% of the time.
Compared to the industry standard, they are 0.05% above average.
Now with speed, support and a nice uptime rate, how much will it cost?
Let’s just say it is a lot better than most.
In the world of hosting, you may get what you pay for but that’s not always the case.
I have had cheap hosting and actually found it to be a lot better than most pricier options.
Now just because a hosting provider charges a lot of money does not mean they are the best either.
And trust me, there are a lot of services out there that do this as nothing more than a marketing strategy.
With SiteGround, they have a very affordable price that is worth it but the service is absolutely amazing.
There are 3 different price points with SiteGround and they are tailored to fit your site’s needs as well as your wallet’s preference.
Price #1 – StartUp
This is the cheapest option, which is great for beginner sites.
You get 10GB worth of storage and it will cost you $3.95/month.
This is paid on a yearly basis, so you will need to pay $47.40.
This plan is for JUST one website, so keep that in mind if you are planning on purchasing more domains.
So if your site is still trying to get off the ground, this plan will do you just fine.
As your site grows, you can upgrade to a plan that suits your needs then.
Price #2 – GrowBig
I personally use this option for my sites but I might be upgrading to the GoGeek package.
It is going to cost you $5.95/month but this is billed annually and you will have to pay $71.40 up front.
This option is great for sites with a decent amount of traffic.
If you have less than 500,000 visitors a month going to your site then this will be your best option.
You can host an unlimited amount of sites with this package as well, so I would recommend this if you own more than one site.
Price #3 – GoGeek
The most expensive option, GoGeek is needed for sites with tons of traffic.
It costs $11.95/month and will require you to pay for the year as well in order to get that price.
This is going to be $143.40 and is good for the entire year before you have to renew then.
You can pay for up to 36 months in advance for all plans but there aren’t any more discounts for choosing those options.
The Money Back Guarantee
On top of the great service they already provide, you are still able to take advantage of their money back guarantee.
If for whatever reason you are not satisfied with their service or you simply just want your money back, you have 30 days to do so.
For cloud based services, you are only allowed 15 days before your guarantee expires.
Money back guarantees are always great and it just ensures you that they are providing quality services.
But before you go buying anything, let me go over some of the “must knows” as I’m sure some of you might need more (or less).
Transferring Hosting to SiteGround
I figured I’d explain this part as it is very critical to anyone who is planning to move from another hosting provider.
For initial transfers, they will do everything that is needed in order to get your site over to SiteGround.
Anything after that will cost you $30.
You do have the option to transfer it yourself and it is actually really simple since SiteGround now has a plugin.
I did have some problems with my old hosting provider but I notified them about the issue.
After that, my site migrated over to SiteGround without any issues.
Cons of SiteGround
With every good thing comes the bad, at least with most things in life.
With SiteGround, you won’t find many complaints and I really couldn’t find any myself.
Just to be fair, I dug up some of the stuff that I think aren’t superb or could use a change.
Outdated Back Office
For those of you who use drag and drop type website builders, you might not find things to be that easy.
You will have to access your CPanel, which looks a bit on the old school side of things but it does what it is supposed to do.
So if you’re not the most tech savvy person, the back office might be a little complicated for you.
I mean, I’m not that “techy” either but I did manage to understand it fairly easily.
I guess it just reminds me of when I used to use Hostgator.
Just don’t forget that the SiteGround support team will do whatever it is that you want them to do, just in case you get lost.
Besides that, I can’t come up with anything else to complain about.
Final Verdict: 5/5 Stars
SiteGround has a very solid reputation and a solid service.
I am very satisfied with their service and I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a solid hosting provider.
If you want your site to perform at its best this is definitely on the top 5 of anyone’s list.
I’m sure your site can use an upgrade and if it isn’t performing like you want it to, it might just be your hosting.
If your site is not performing like you think it should, now would be a great time to change hosting providers.
I did it with my site being 4 years old and there weren’t any negative effects from the changes I made.
Sure it can be a bit scary but getting a better host will only help your site.
That’s the way I see things and this is a business that does require the best.
Remember that there is a 30 day money back guarantee, so utilize that if you are not happy with your purchase.
Other than that, I hope this SiteGround review has given you all the information you need.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
