Overall Rating: 4.5/5 stars
This program has evolved over the years and along with that comes the update of my Swagbucks review.
From their start in 2008, a lot has been added but the same two things remain.
The fact that they are still free and very much still paying.
Within this review I want to not only explain how everything works but to also show you why this isn't your typical cash back or rewards program type of website.
I am personally not a fan of the whole rewards program, but this very one is on my list of legitimate websites that pay the best without investing a single penny.
Not only is it easy to make money with almost no effort, cashing out is a lot easier as well.
So let's continue with this review so you can be on your way to making some money with one of the few legitimate cash back sites out there.
And with a signup bonus of $10, you really can't complain.
So What Exactly is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a program that rewards you for doing things that you are already doing online.
They use a points system, which can be accumulated by doing simple tasks.
- Watching videos
- Taking surveys
- Exploring offers
- Searching the web
- Playing games
By doing any of the simple tasks mentioned above, you will then accumulate points, which are referred to as “Swagbucks”.
Once you have accumulated a certain amount of Swagbucks, you will then be rewarded in the form of a gift card.
From restaurants, stores, and even a preloaded credit card, you will then be able to receive the card.
I personally get it in the form of PayPal cash, so I can transfer it directly to my bank account.
What it's Going to Cost You
It is completely free to join Swagbucks and there are no strings attached.
This is usually the case with any rewards program, so be wary if a site is asking you to pay any cash.
Some popular scams involve reading the news and other survey type scams but they are really easy to spot.
“Make $100 per survey” or “Refer others and make $25”.
It sounds almost possible but survey sites never pay more than a couple of bucks, so keep that in mind before you start promoting something you know nothing about.
Who Swagbucks is For
This is the perfect site for anyone who has absolutely no money to their name or is looking to pretty much make money doing nothing.
I say that only because the type of “work” needed with sites like this require no thinking whatsoever.
Now if you are looking to make a little more than pocket change, you might want to go with something like affiliate marketing instead.
Of course that requires some actual work along with an investment.
However, the investment is as low as it is going to get to start a business but the income potential is pretty amazing.
It is what I personally recommend and it is also what I do for a living.
So if that is something that might interest you, you should definitely checkout my top recommended work from home program.
Earning Swagbucks Points
There are several ways to earn points and doing a search (like you would in Google) is one of them. You don't earn much, but it does add up.
You can also use the other ways, that are shown on your homepage, which is by filling out surveys, using coupons, and playing games. Like I stated earlier, you earn these points for doing things you are already doing.
With these points, you can redeem them at the “Swag store” which you can exchange for prizes. There is no cash value, but they do come in the form of a gift card from some sites that you probably shop on, like Amazon and Target to name a few.
What Points Are Worth
Every 100 Swagbuck is worth about $1.
So if you want an Amazon gift card that's worth $5, you would need to get 500 Swagbucks, so it's not always worth the same value
Most of the time it's a 100/$1 ratio though.
How Swagbucks Makes Money
So you're probably wondering, how in the world do these guys even make their money?
It is a very simple concept and one that I personally do myself.
Here's how it works.
Every time you do a search, purchase something, or fill out some type of survey, these guys are getting paid.
Remember the affiliate marketing I mentioned earlier?
Well that is what they are pretty much doing
Send you to Amazon, Macy's, and other sites, all to make money.
Now with the fact that they are paying you and not charging you a single penny makes it a win/win for everyone.
The owners of this company have done a great job of using the internet to their advantage as well as giving you the opportunity to make something as well.
I do recommend you try something like affiliate marketing, as that is really the way to make more than just a couple of bucks.
Pros & Cons
- Completely free to join
- Offers gift cards for well known online retailers
- Rewards for programs you are already using
- Points are worth something
- Can still pay you in cash (PayPal)
- Can be time consuming and distracting
- Gift cards are limited
- You don't earn points for every search
Regardless of the good and “bad” that comes with any program, you can't argue with the fact that it is completely free to join.
Is it Worth it?
Swagbucks is definitely worth it.
Especially if you don't have any money to invest into a real online business, this is a great program for you.
Along with Ibotta, this is one of my favorite cash back sites.
In the end it is totally up to you.
Just know that this is not a scam and you will get paid.
Swagbucks has a solid reputation and this is my top recommended survey site.
Not to mention the many other tasks that allows you to earn some really good awards.
I hope you have learned a thing or two from this Swagbucks review but I think it's time you get out there and make some points from which you can redeem for actual cash.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
